Welcome to the new club website. The site is under construction with new content being added as it becomes available.
Welcome
Our club aims to provide a friendly environment for enthusiasts and newcomers alike to
take part in the controlled and safe flying of Radio Controlled Model Aircraft in West
Oxfordshire. Our flying field is close to the town of Witney where we fly all types of
quiet and electric models. We also hold indoor flying meetings in a local school hall
during most months of the year.
We welcome new members and are happy to assist any newcomers to the hobby. Attempting to
learn to fly on your own using a corner of an unsuitable field or public grassed area is
not only potentially dangerous but will almost certainly result in your expensive model
being reduced to a pile of bits! We would strongly recommend that before making any
purchase of equipment or models you take the opportunity to speak to one of our members,
many of whom have years of experience of building and flying model aircraft.
The club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) which is the body
delegated by the Royal Aero Club to be responsible for all aspects of model flying in
Great Britain. The BMFA has around 820 clubs affiliated to it, with a combined
membership from clubs and individual members of over 36,000. Membership brings many
benefits, including 3rd party liability insurance of up to £25 million. We require all
members to hold BMFA insurance.
Anyone wishing to learn more about the club is welcome to attend our monthly club meeting,
held at 8pm on the second Wednesday of each month from September to April, at Witney Rugby Football
Club on the B4022 at Hailey Road Witney, Oxfordshire OX29 9UH. Come along, meet us and
introduce yourself. We can arrange for you to visit our flying field, book a trial
flight and answer your questions.
